New Zealand Tsunami List
Model shows New Zealand should expect 15-meter tsunami every 580 years by Bob Yirka , Phys.org 12Dec02023AD
“The last major tsunami to strike New Zealand was in 1868, and that was triggered by an earthquake in Chile.”

NZL – Tongariro

- 2023_11_07 Smithsonian Institute – Most Recent Weekly Report: 19 August-25 August 2015 Cite this Report On 19 August GeoNet reported that activity at Tongariro’s Te Maari Craters had declined significantly since the eruption in 2012, with data suggesting that unrest associated with the eruption was over. The Volcanic Alert Level was lowered to 0 (on a scale of 0-5). The Volcanic Alert Level for Ngauruhoe is separate and had been lowered to 0 on 20 April. ( Now the SI – Volcano search for Ngauruhoe leads right back to Tongariro, so ??? )

NZL – Mount Taranaki (Volcano dormant)

Volcano Hotspot – Mount Taranaki (formerly Mount Egmont) is an active stratovolcano in the Taranaki region on the W coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The primary peak is 2,518 m high with a 1,966 m satellite cone Fantham’s Peak (Panitahi) on its south flank.
Terrain Revelations—Mount Taranaki By Aileen Buckley, PhD, Esri Research Cartographer “Around 1755, an eruption sent a pyroclastic flow down the mountain’s northeast flanks. Its most recent volcanic activity, in the 1850s or 1860s, produced a lava dome in the crater that then collapsed down the side of the mountain.”
